Perfect weather .and a pool full of excited, happy dogs made Rivers and Bluffs' Animal Shelter's fourth Prairie Pool Puppy Paddle a huge success. On Saturday, August 30, the Prairie du Chien Aquatic Park was the site of an open swim for dogs to raise money for an animal shelter in the
Prairie du Chien area. This event was co-sponsored by the Prairie du Chien Recreation Dept. Approximately 50 dogs spent the day swimming and frolicking in the water and adjacent grounds. It was hard to tell who had more fun-the dogs or the spectators. It was interesting to watch the dogs!interact with each other. Most dogs were off leash and they were an well behaved. In addition to. the "open swim", the group had a food stand.' a "scoop the poop raffle" and had commemorative beach towels and Rivers and Bluffs Animal Shelter t -shirts for sale.

The group hopes to make this an ann ual even t. At the present time, volunteers are raising money through various fundraisers to purchase land on which to build an animal shelter. The dedicated group of volunteers knows that they have a lot of hard work before their dream is a realtty.
